Central Jr. A Hockey League

Players born in 1992 and before are elgible for the 2008 draft.

Teams with their own first round selection may opt to protect a player in lieu of their selection.

Players must reside within 50 km of the home arena of the CJHL member team to be eligible for protecting.

Players protected by more than one team shall be awarded to the CJHL team nearest their home.

This event will be carried live on TV Cogeco.

Each CJHL team shall protect two players born in 1993.

The players protected by more than one CJHL team shall be the property of the team nearest the players' home.

This exercise is to address the change in CJHL territories created by the most recent expansion, as well as the change in zoning and creation of the AAA league.

Previously CJHL teams could affiliate with local Minor Midget players.  This new system allows players and teams to once again work together and affiliate.

The CJHL will be lobbying for a change in the affiliation section of the CDM to allow players to affiliate with both junior and minor teams, essentially allowing a player to AP with his Midget AAA team and a Junior A team. 

Each CJHL team has an active list containing a maximum of 35 players, including all A carded players.

Prior to the draft, each CJHL team reduces it's list to 25 players.

The CJHL team then selects up to 35 to create a list for the upcoming season.

Saturday's OHL Priority Selection saw 3 current CJHL players selected after being bypassed in their first draft year. Orleans Dylan Anderson was selected by the Ottawa 67's, London selected Kemptville's Eddie Slade and Sudbury chose Nepeans' Wyatt Galley.

It was a banner day for the ODMHA and the Ontario East AAA League as Erik Gudbranson and Ryan Spooner were chosen 4th and 5th overall respectively by the Kingston Frontenacs and Peterborough Petes. Three other former ODMHA players who moved to the GTHL were selected in the top 28 selections.

In total, 20 ODMHA and 3 CJHL players were selected. The CJHL continues to provide opportunity for players wishing to advance to higher levels and congratulates those players selected in the OHL draft.

The CJHL draft is June 7th in Smiths Falls and many of these players will be selected by local Junior A teams to continue their development towards advancing to higher levels of hockey.
